NATIVE tells the story of a girl who moved from Portugal to London to follow her dreams and ended up falling in love with the city. Mara trained to be an actress, singer and a dancer but soon she found herself feeling overwhelmed by the highly competitive performing arts industry. Adding to that the feeling of being constantly torn between London and Portugal, that’s when she started writing songs as an escape.Since she was seventeen, she’s moved from city to city in Portugal and finally to London. All the people she met and all the bonds she created in these different cities made her reflect on what is the deeper meaning of being native to a city, country or continent. Her previous studies in Classical Music, Musical Theatre and Musicology helped in the process but the hustle she’s learnt from being an immigrant was the main impulse behind this EP.

Mara mudou-se de Portugal para Londres para seguir os seus sonhos e acabou por se apaixonar
pela grande cidade. Trabalha como actriz, cantora e bailarina no Reino Unido, mas ao ver-se
envolvida no mundo altamente competitivo do teatro musical e constantemente dividida entre
Londres e Portugal, começou a escrever sobre isso e assim nasceu o seu EP “NATIVE”.
Desde os dezassete anos que a cantora se mudou de cidade para cidade. As pessoas que conheceu
e todos os laços que criou inspiraram uma reflexão sobre o significado mais profundo de ser nativo
de uma cidade, país ou continente.
Os seus estudos em Música Clássica, Teatro Musical e Musicologia ajudaram no processo, mas a
força de vontade e perseverança que sempre a acompanharam foram os principais impulsos para a
criação deste EP.
